State Government has suspended AK Gadewal, Assistant Commissioner In-charge of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Development Department with immediate effect. Gadewal was also holding administrative post in Integrated Tribal Development Project. Tribal Caste and Scheduled Caste Development Department issued his suspension orders on Tuesday from the Mantralaya, as per the suspension orders.

The official had been accused of misleading the Government about the case of pregnancy and delivery of a student enrolled in Tribal Pre-Matric Girls Hostel, situated in village Ramgarh (Block Sonhat) of Koriya district. In his letter to Government (dated January 22, 2015), Gadewal termed the incidence as ‘false and baseless’, whereas in Koriya District Collector’s letter to the government (dated January 29, 2015) the incidence has been informed to be true, according to an official press release issued here on Tuesday.

Taking the case into serious consideration, Tribal Caste Development Minister Kedar Kashyap instructed senior officials to suspend Gadewal. The action against Gadewal has been taken under Chhattisgarh Civil Service (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rule 1996. As per the orders, Tribal Caste and Scheduled Caste Development Department Commissioner Office (Indravati Bhavan), Naya Raipur will be the headquarters for Gadewal during his suspension period.

In his place, Assistant Commissioner JR Rathiya of Departmental Commissioner Office, Raipur has been posted as In-charge Project Administrator and Assistant Commissioner Tribal Development, District Koriya.
