The decomposed body of Abhishek Mishra, Vice President of Shri Gangajali Education Society Bhilai was exhumed from a house at Smriti Nagar in the city.

Three persons have been arrested in connection with Abhishek Mishra's murder, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Durg, Pradeep Gupta informed while addressing a Press conference here on Wednesday. 

Notably Abhishek is son of IP Mishra and the President of Shri Gangajali Education Society which runs around a dozen colleges including some top engineering colleges along with pharmacy, nursing and Management colleges in Durg district.

Abhishek was missing since November 9 this year and according to the police, his family members had also received a ransom call after Abhishek’s sudden disappearance.

Three persons Vikas Jain, his wife Kimsi Kamboj, the former employee of a College run by the society and one Ajit Jain have been arrested in this connection, the IGP informed reporters.

According to the police, Kimsi was in touch with Abhishek Mishra after quitting the job in the College.

Mishra allegedly used to force her to maintain contact with him. Kimsi and Vikas who could not stop Mishra from contacting Kimsi planned to kill him along with Ajit Jain who was the couple’s uncle, police said.

Vikas Jain ran a start-up venture ‘Verve Technologies’ in Bhilai, where he used to create science models for Engineering students, Superintendent of Police (SP) Durg Mayank Shrivastava informed.

On November 9, Kimsi called Abhishek at her Chouhan Town located home where Vikas and Ajit were waiting for him.

After he reached her home, the accused duo hit Abhishek with some heavy rod that could have caused his death, the IGP said.

They buried the body in a deep pit dug at Ajit’s rented house at Smriti Nagar, police said. 

The accused for misleading investigators abandoned Abhishek’s car in VIP Road in Raipur. Vikas then went to Dhamtari and allegedly made ransom call for confusing cops, police said.

Based on various evidences, Vikas was thoroughly cross-examined wherein he confessed of committing the crime, police claimed. 

 “For careful investigation, police had scrutinized over 1500 suspected individuals. Around 35 police teams were also sent to 40 different places outside Chhattisgarh,” the IGP mentioned.
