Gupteswar, one of the ancient temples in South Odisha, received more than 60,000 Kawadiya devotees coming across the State and neighbouring regions on the last Shravan Monday.
Despite the fact that Gupteswar is a very famous and ancient temple and such a huge numbers of devotees throng to the holy place during the month of Shravan, no special arrangements were made for the Kawadiyas.
“While a large number of vehicles coming from different parts of the State and outside congested the pilgrim spot, no forces or protection were made for the devotees. Many civil societies and individuals were seen helping the devotees but neither the administration nor police took any measures to control the crowd,” lamented a villager, adding that even no arrangement of doctors and basic amenities were made by the administration.
This has questioned the State Government’s claims of making enough facilities for tourists and devotees coming to Gupteswar, the villager added.
