Half-a-dozen Sangham members were arrested during a search operation carried out by the district police from a forested patch of insurgency-hit Sukma district, police said on Friday. A team of district police carrying out anti-Naxal operation in the region nabbed six persons, including two women from the limits of Gadiras police station, Superintendent of Police (SP), D Sharavan said.
"They were all members of 'Sangham' group-- one of outfits of the banned organisation of Communist Party of India (Maoist)," the SP said. Based on inputs about presence of rebels in the region, a police team swung into action and arrested them from separate areas from Gadiras, he said. According to the police, the arrested persons were involved in various incidents, including looting polling materials in Jhirampal region and others. Their involvement in other incidents is being investigated, police said.
