The Government would address “all concerns” of political parties on the land Acquisition Bill and may bring “necessary changes” in it after consulting all the stakeholders on the issue.
According to sources, while the Modi Government was ready to accept “all merit-based suggestions” to improve the legislation, it would not “compromise on the core issues”.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu on Friday said land was an emotive issue and Government was in consultations with parties and all other organisations who have raised issues connected with the land Bill. “All aspects will be minutely examined,” he said in an informal chat with mediapersons.
He said “wrong perception” on the Bill has to be corrected by creating awareness among all those directly impacted by the Bill. On the opposition to land Bill from four NDA allies, Naidu said, “ all allies will be on board...”
The Opposition has red-flagged exclusions of “consent” clause (which ensured mandatory permission of land holders to sell land) and Social Impact Assessment that looked after those dependent on the land sold.
The Government is currently engaging each political party separately to narrow down differences on the land ordinance. The Modi Government has quoted Congress-ruled States having opposed “consent” clause, saying it was the biggest stumbling block in securing land for development in villages.
The Government will also be taking feed-back from RSS affiliated Swadeshi Jagran Manch and Bharatiya Kisan Sangh who have sought that it should be reviewed “in the interest of farmers.”
