BYPOllS TO three RS SEATS ANNOUNCED
New Delhi: The Election Commission on Friday announced by-elections to the Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra, West Bengal and Uttarakhand, where seats fell vacant due to death of two serving members and resignation of one. While the term of Murli Deora from Maharashtra was to end in April 2020, Manorama Dobriyal Sharma’s membership was due till November 2020. Both died recently. Srinjoy Bose from West Bengal, whose tenure was till August 2017, resigned early this month. The election has to be completed by March 23.
Voting by internet next step, says CEC
New Delhi: Chief Election Commissioner HS Brahma on Friday said voting by internet could be a possibility in the future and the first step in this direction is the EC’s plan to make electoral rolls “totally error free”. “Voting by internet is the next stage. The first step in the direction was the Election Commission’s ambitious plan to make the electoral rolls totally error free,” the CEC said.

‘233 foreign boats seized during 2011-15’
New Delhi: A total of 233 foreign boats were seized and 1,686 foreign crew were apprehended by Indian Coast Guard during the period 2011-15, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar informed the lok Sabha on Friday.
