Wait for EWS DDA flat owners still not over

Tuesday, 08 September 2015 | Sapna Singh | New Delhi

The construction of 700 EWS Delhi Development Authority (DDA) flats in Karmpura, West Moti Nagar, is at the centre of attraction. Though on one side site engineers have claimed that the work has been finished they have not allowed people— who had applied to buy these flats— to enter the location in order to verify the status of their flats.

Besides, many said the DDA is already late to hand over the flats to the owners as the construction of these flats should have been completed by March 31 of current year.

On Monday, when The Pioneer visited the spot, DlF authorities did not allow the reporter to enter the construction site and refused to comment on the status of DDA -EWS flats.

“People from outstations come here to see their flats and they have several questions related to the area, construction and the possession of their flats,” said a property dealer of west Motinagar. Many people are from Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, he further added.

In 2014, the DDA announced housing scheme for the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS).Under this scheme, 700 people applied by paying Rs10,000 as registration fees.

“It is very unfortunate as they did not allow me to see the status of flat construction. For further investment in flats, it is essential for me to give a personal visit at the site,” said S Gupta over the phone.

“I have visited the site two times but never got permission to enter and see the flat,” Gupta further added. Gupta belongs to Rajasthan and applied for DDA- EWS flat.

Confirming about the status of DDA -EWS flats, the site engineer of company larson and Turbo (l&T) told The Pioneer that out of ten towers, five towers have received the fire clearance certificate.

According to the source, the DlF has completed the construction of these flats and handed over to the DDA but there is some issues over the separate way for entry and exist.

Reacting on the whole matter, a DDA senior official said applicants are allowed to visit the location of their site. “Our applicants are allowed to visit the construction site and DDA will look into the matter,” official added.
