A 25-year-old woman from Sikkim was allegedly raped by a doctor posted in the Neuro department of the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) on Thursday night. The accused doctor was arrested.
Four persons, including a woman, were also arrested on the charges of immoral trafficking. According to police, the woman was brought to Delhi by a fellow native a week ago on the pretext of providing her a job.
The incident came to light on Friday morning when a cab driver informed the police control room (PCR) about the rape. The woman lodged a complaint with south district police and a raid was conducted in west Delhi’s Sagarpur and South Delhi’s Gautam Nagar areas and nabbed four persons.
According to the complaint, the four persons known to her took her to the house of the accused — Mehar Teej — in Hauz Khas on Thursday night and left after receiving the payment of Rs9,000. Thereafter, the doctor raped her, said a police official.
During further investigation, Mehar Teej told that he contacted someone who supplies woman at home and said that after having sex he allowed the woman to go home.
Mehar, a native of Hyderabad, has been living in a rented accommodation in Gautam Nagar for the past one year.
A woman from the victim’s village brought her to Delhi on pretext of a job in a beauty parlour but forced her in sex trade with the help of her three male friends. Police said the victim was kept at a house in west Delhi’s Sagarpur, and was later shifted to south Delhi’s Munirka.
The four accused —Suman (37) and her husband Deepak, alias Sagar (40) — were arrested from Sagarpur while their associates — Dharamveer (32) and Kamal (31) — were arrested from Gautam Nagar. The vehicle in which the victim was taken to the doctor’s place was also recovered. The accused told police that they have been running this racket for the past two months.
