Cancer survivors will walk on the ramp this Saturday as they draw attention to their stories of courage and conviction. The event, Festival of Hope, organised by Indian Cancer Society, will take place at DlF Club 5.
It will also celebrate the men who stood by their wives at ‘her’ time of need. The fund collected through this event will be contribute to research and development teams of Indian Cancer Society.
Indira Jasuja, a cancer survivor said, “Six women cancer survivors will walk the ramp this year. These women were diagnosed with cancer and after treatment are now healthy. I too lost my husband to cancer. This year we hope to be able to fund a research grant to award to a deserving breast cancer researcher working on issues via the Indian Cancer Society.”
Festival of Hope has already seen three editions which were hosted and produced by Shalini Vig Wadhwa. She said, “It’s been a wonderful three years journey and I’m extremely pleased and satisfied with the outcome. We have successfully achieved in creating cancer awareness in most of Delhi & NCR through Festival of Hope. Every year we touch more than a thousand families who come together to celebrate the spirit of cancer survivors.”
The fashion show will be choreographed by Bollywood fashion director and choreographer Kaushik Ghosh. He will be grooming all the participants for the event with the help of VlCC.
Names of participating designers include few new age and some well known names like Kanika Saluja, Pawan Sachdeva, Ritu Pande, Nimirta, debut collection by Farheen Prabhakar, Chhaya Mehrotra and Varija Bajaj in the ethnic Bridal segment.
Designer Varija Bajaj shared, “It is a brilliant effort to create awareness for cancer through festival of hope and I am only proud to be a part of such a noble cause.” According to designer Kanika Saluja, “Festival of Hope is an innovative and unique concept to create awareness and applaud women who have overcome a disease like cancer and become more positive towards life than ever before.”
Designer Chhaya Mehrotra said, “I found this concept of raising fund through fashion show for the development and research of cancer in India a very interesting concept. It also gives an opportunity to all cancer survivors to look ahead and live a life beyond the disease.”
Those who will be walking the ramp include socialites of Delhi NCR, Bollywood actors, sport stars such as cricketer Manoj Prabhakar, writer Alexandra Venus Bakshi, make up expert Aashmeen Munjaal, former Miss India Naina Balsavar and novelist Ira Trivedi.
