Inclusion of Bhojpuri in 8th Schedule demanded

Sunday, 06 April 2014 | Staff Reporter | New Delhi

Promise to include Bhojpuri language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution has earned support from many prominent organisations for BJP North-East Delhi candidate and Bhojpuri film star Manoj Tiwari. These organisations include Bhojpuri Samaj, Manoj Tiwari’s NRI Friends Club from US, Bhojpuri Panchayat and Hello Bhojpuri.

Talking to the media, Manoj Tiwari said that inclusion of Bhojpuri language in the 8th Schedule has been a long-pending demand. The Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre repeatedly assured, but merely toyed with the sentiments of nearly 20 crore Indians who speak Bhojpuri. However, Manoj Tiwari has made it clear that once the National Democratic Alliance under the leadership of Modi comes into power, it will be his very first job to get Constitutional status for Bhojpuri language. Delhi-based Bhojpuri Samaj, fighting long to get Constitutional status for Bhojpuri language, has welcomed Tiwari’s announcement while extending full support to him. He also said that his organisation has been raising the demand at national and international fora for the past 15 years. Prabhunath Pandey, senior vice-president, Bhojpuri Samaj pledged maximum effort to ensure Tiwari emerges victorious.
