The rising mercury coupled with increasing incidents of unscheduled power cuts are causing problems to the residents of the city. On Friday many areas of the city were under the spell of power cuts. The power cut is also causing water shortage in many parts of the city.
The pinch of power cuts was felt by the residents of posh colonies like Dalanwala, Nehru Colony and Defence colony on Friday as an unscheduled power cut was forced between 11 am to 3 pm. The spokesperson of Uttarakhand Power Corporation limited (UPCl) Madhusudan said that repair works due to uprooting of a pole in Dalanwala area caused the cut in the areas connected with Dalanwala substation. The residents of Niranjanpur and Brahampuri areas staged a Dharna at the Chamanpuri sub station on Thursday. The residents demanded that high voltage line above their residents should be removed, they also complained of low voltage in their colony.
The residents of Ajabpur, Kargi, Mothorawala and Banjarawala faced a power cut from 11 am to 5 pm on Thursday as the power connection of sewerage treatment plant was being done by the department. Though this power cut was in the schedule declared by the UPCl the residents faced problems as the summers are at their peak.
