Tussle among senior physicians continues

Wednesday, 16 April 2014 | PNS | Dehradun

The tussle between senior physicians of the Doon Group of Hospitals and hospital administration has been continuing with the medical officer has opted for medical leave instead of joining in Pauri.

However, hospital administration has not released him from his post as he has availed the medical leave. Infuriated over the transfer from Doon Group of Hospital to District Hospital, Pauri, senior physician Dr SD Joshi instead of assuming the new charge, took the medical leave.

Sources revealed that he was annoyed over his transfer as other senior physicians are posted in the hospital for many and also completed their tenure besides, the transfer list was issued when the model code of conduct has been implemented in the entire state due to the general elections. It is also noteworthy that the Dr Joshi was transferred to the Doon Hospital after he had provided his medical services to higher reaches in the Garhwal and Kumaon divisions of Uttarakhand for nearly 17 years. It is also pertinent to mention here is that the similar kind of case was came into light when another senior physician Dr KP Joshi also went on the medical leave after he was transferred from Doon Group of Hospitals.

While talking to The Pioneer, Dr RS Aswal, Principal Medical Superintendent, Doon Hospital said that transfer order was released from medical, health and family welfare directorate, nearly a week ago. “Since the doctor is availing the leave on the medical grounds, the transfer order has been sent to the address of the medical officer through registered post,” he said, adding that doctor has not released yet by the department.

Dr Aswal said that hospital administration has been working round the clock for providing best medical and health facilities to OPD (Out Patients Department and IPD (In Patients Department) and strict department action would be surely taken against those medical officers or para-medical staff who fail to perform as per the desired standards.
