Candidates who have so far not been able to submit their expenditure details of the previous elections will not be able to contest the upcoming panchayat polls in case they fail to submit the said expenditure details till June 2.
As per the directive of the State Election Commission, the candidates will have to submit their expenditure details of the previous polls by June 2, said Akshat Gupta, District Election Officer (DEO), Nainital. Otherwise, the candidates will not be allowed to contest the upcoming panchayat polls, as per the directions of the state election commission, added Gupta.
In the meantime, according to the panchayt poll schedule issued by the State Election Commission, candidates may file their nomination papers between June 2 and June 5, while scrutiny of the nomination papers will be done on June 6, June 7 and June 9. Subsequently, date of withdrawal of nomination papers has been fixed as June 10.
However, symbols will be allotted to the candidates on June 11, June 14 and June 17, as per the poll schedule issued by the State Election Commission. At the same time according to the notification issued by the state election commission, in regard to the panchayat polls, polling will be held in three phases across the district i.e. on June 18, June 21 and June 24, while counting of votes will be held from 8 am on June 27.
More so, with issuance of notification by the state election commission for the upcoming panchayat polls across the state, the Model Code of Conduct has also come in force.
