Rebel-hit latehar beats Ranchi in Inter Arts results

Intermediate (Arts) students from rebel-hit districts of latehar and Koderma outperformed their counterparts in Ranchi and Jamshedpur when Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) declared the results on Friday.

The state arts topper came from Ursuline Inter College Ranch. lovely Sinku, 18, scored 79.4 per cent to bag the topper’s position. Shashi Kumar of Kartik Oaron Inter College Ratu was the second topper with 77.2 per cent and Goldy Bhagat of Ursuline Inter College Ranchi with 76.6 per cent was the third topper.Students of Ursuline Inter College Ranchi had also grabbed the top three positions in the Commerce stream.

The popular colleges in the state capital like St Xavier’s College, Ranchi Women’s College and Ranchi College drew a blank in the top three slots of Arts streams.However, the two students of St Xavier’s College had secured second and third positions in the science stream and the first slot had been grabbed by a student from lesser known Pakur Raj +2 High School. The results of the science and commerce streams had been declared on May 10.

Significantly, the results declared by HRD Minister Geetashree Oraon showed better picture this year as compared to that of previous years.According to statistics, the overall pass percentage this year is 83.16 per cent compared to 71.09 in 2012 and 72.92 in 2013 respectively, giving a sharp rise of 10.24 per cent.Nevertheless, state fairer sex has once again proved that they are the best, as the pass percentage showed that girls have outperformed boys in every district. The overall pass percentage of girls is 84.71 per cent as against 81.21 per cent of boys.

The pass percentage of girls hailing from Schedule caste (SC) is 80.43 per cent and of boys its is 78 per cent, Schedule Tribe (ST) girls pass percentage is 84.99 per cent and that of boys it is 81.78 per cent, Other Backward Caste (OBC) girls have scored 84.65 pass percentage and that of boys it is 79.61 per cent. Besides, in general category girls have secured 85. 46 per cent and boys 82.25 pass percentage.   

latehar district has achieved the highest pass percentage of the State for both girls and boys with 94.16 percent for girls and 94.73 per cent for boys. Koderma secured the second position with 93.75 per cent of boys and 91.83 per cent girls securing pass percentage.Even in the state capital girls have performed remarkably well as compared to boys. It was 91.65 per cent for girls and 88.43 per cent for boys.Interestingly, this time girls have not only managed to surpass boys in totality but have also outshined them in the state’s topper list.

HRD Minister Geetashree Oraon congratulated girls for their marvelous performance and said, “Girls have proved that they are better than boys in all respect. The State is proud of them and hopes for their bright and prosperous future ahead.” Meanwhile, the pass percentage of arts in Kolhan stood 83.99 per cent for boys and 85.90 per cent for girls. Kolhan comprises three districts--East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan.Karu Murmu with 378 marks from Musabani Mines Inter College stood first in East Singhbhum while Sweta Kumari with 366 marks from Shyama Prosad Inter College, Jamshedpur stood second. Sweety Biruli with 359 marks from Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya stood third.

In the city, Sweta stood the topper followed by Afsana Perween from Central Karimia High School with 361 marks and Ankit Kumar Sharma stood third with 353 marks from Karim City College.District education superintendent Indu Bhushan Singh expressed happiness over the performance of the students and said that the students have done quite well this year With dedication and hard work laxmi Kumari student of Kasturba Vidyalaya Jaridih topped in Bokaro, she scored 369 marks while Anuj Mahto, a student of S S High School Kasmar also grabbed 369 marks.
