The sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday swooped down on different premises of an Executive Engineer of Public Works Department (PWD) posted at Baloda Bazar and unearthed disproportionate assets worth more than Rs6 crore.
The ACB carried out the raids concurrently at different locations at Baloda Bazar, Patan and Bhilai in the State. ACB sources informed that they were getting continuous complaints against Executive Engineer (EE), MP Shah that he had allegedly amassed huge assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. He was under ACB scanner for a long time and finally the raid was conducted on Friday, sources said.
According to ACB sources, the EE owns a triple storied house in Ashish Nagar, Risali, Bhilai. The value of house runs into several lakhs of rupees. He had also purchased a house in Ram Nagar area of Bhilai. Shah is also owner of a Crusher unit in Parsahi village of Patan which sprawls over an area of about one acre. Three tractors and a JCB machine were seized from the Crusher unit site, sources claimed.
The EE had purchased a 2,400 sqft of plot in Shanti Nagar area of Bhilai. likewise, he had also purchased a house in Kabir Nagar area of Raipur. In the same way, documents citing immovable assets in Sahsapur village in Kawardha district were seized from the house of EE during raids.
Besides immovable assets, the ACB sleuths found cash Rs50 lakh in the house at Bhilai. Apart from it records of cash amounting to Rs6 to 7 lakhs being deposited in various bank accounts owned by EE and his family members were also found, sources claimed. A car and bike were also among the property seized after the raid.
About 181 grams of gold along with silver ornaments were found in the house. He had purchased life Insurance policies of about Rs 5 lakh and had heavily invested in stock market through mutual funds.
