A special team of Civil Supplies officials and Commercial Tax staff has started investigations into the 105 quintals PDS wheat allegedly diverted to a private flour mill in Ralaba village in Ganjam district.
The team is examining all documents related to stock of the wheat in the mill. During the process, the team has unearthed another 500 quintals of PDS grains in the mill godown.
According to district Supplies officer Santosh Kumar Mohanty, they are looking into all documents related to their stocks and trying to unearth under which block quota such huge amount of wheat were issued.
Notably, the district administration after getting a reliable tip-off conducted a surprise raid on the Milan flour mill on May 27 and found out the wheat diversion fiasco.
The flour mill owner is yet to produce the requisite documents on the stock. “They showed some documents but some other records have not yet been produced for verification,” a Tax officer said.
Meanwhile, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sanjay Dasburma has sought report from the district administration. Dasburma said action will be taken if anybody is found engaged in illegal
activities.
