Advocate Pradeep Bhatt has been elected as the president of the Bar Association of Pauri district by defeating ex-president of the bar association Vinodanand Barthwal while Subhash Raturi was elected the vice-president of the association. Jaspal Singh was elected treasurer defeating MN Karwan.
The voting for the various posts in the district bar association began at 11 am and ended at 2 pm on Friday. The counting of the votes was completed soon after polling. Advocate Udai Ram Pant was the Chief Election Officer while Uttarakhand Bar Council Prithvi Singh Chauhan and Chandra Shekhar Tiwari assisted Pant as Observers in the Pauri district bar association elections. Ashish Jadlee was declared elected unopposed to the post of secretary as he was the only one to file a nomination for this post. No one had filed nomination for the post of joint Secretary.
Both the candidates contesting the polls to the post of the bar association president had put in all their efforts to win the election. However, Pradeep Bhatt polled 48 votes to defeat former bar association president Vinodanand Barthwal who polled 41 votes.
In the election to the post of vice-president Subash Raturi defeated laxmi Rawat by a margin of 48 votes. Raturi got 68 votes while laxmi Rawat got only 20 votes. In the election to the post of treasure JaspalSingh defeated MN Kaparwan by 26 votes. Singh got 57 votes while Kaparwan polled only 31 votes.
