Now, higher education loan at 1% in Chhattisgarh!

Wednesday, 09 July 2014 | Staff Reporter | Raipur

There is some heartening news for the youth pursuing higher education in Chhattisgarh. The Government has announced that the youth seeking higher education in the State would be eligible for loan at just one per cent rate of interest for a maximum amount of Rs 4 lakh either from any nationalised or private sector banks.

Chief Minister Raman Singh on Tuesday directed officers to ensure prompt action on the announcement in accordance with the promise made by the State Government in its Assembly poll manifesto 2013.

It may be recalled that the Singh during ‘Rajyotsava 2012,’ had announced a ‘Chief Minister Higher Education loan Interest Grant Scheme’ for the youths of the State.

The scheme comprises a facility in which those families with annual income of less than Rs 2 lakh were made eligible to avail a maximum loan of Rs 4 lakh from banks at four per cent interest rate. Now, the State government has reduced the interest rate to one per cent from four per cent .
