New machine to clean roadside drains in doon

Saturday, 31 May 2014 | PNS | Dehradun

The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun might be able to efficiently clean the roadside drains in Dehradun with a machine purchased for Rs21 lakh. Dehradun Mayor Vinod Chamoli saw the successful demonstration of this machine on Raipur Road on Friday. It is worth mentioning here that drains clogged by wrongly dumped garbage are a major cause of water logging and civic sanitation problems in the State capital. Shortage of workers and other factors have so far prevented the MCD from ensuring proper and timely cleaning of the drains. With the new machine, the corporation would be able to facilitate this efficiently. According to municipal officials, the machine will be used to clean the drains where requested by the public. If this machine is put to effective use, the State capital might see fewer incidents of water logging in the coming rainy season.
