The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in association with State Pollution Control Board organised a conference on “Fly ash utilisation in contemporary construction & entrepreneurship development” here on Friday.
The aim of the conference was to provide a forum for fly ash producers and prospective consumers along with policymakers and all stakeholders to talk about opportunities for maximum utilisation of fly ash. The conference addressed all issues on fly ash including regulation, disposal challenges and practical methods of fly ash management.
The conference was also aimed at removing the myths related to fly ash utilisation like toxic nature of fly ash, etc. State MSME Department Secretary Panchanan Dash said fly ash utilisation is in a very nascent stage and a lot of awareness needs to be created before fully utilising the material that till date is considered waste.
State Pollution Control Board Senior Environment Scientist Dr DK Behera made a presentation on the current issues hampering effective utilisation of fly ash in planning and implementation of the strategies.
