In the first meeting of the State Higher Education Council held here on Friday, Higher Education and Technical Education Minister Prem Prakash Pandey sought information about the objectives, targets and functional strategy of the national higher education campaign (RUSA).
In the meeting, the Minister held detailed deliberations on the arrangements for study and teaching work during the new educational session in the colleges and the universities, availability of basic facilities for the students in educational institutions and availability of subject-wise professors in colleges. The members of the Council have proposed various suggestions.
The Minister has stressed on the need for running employment-oriented syllabus in colleges.He instructed to open residential model colleges in Raipur, Bilaspur and Durg for the students of low income group, on an experimental basis.Pandey sought information in the meeting about the action taken so far under the guidelines of National Higher Education Campaign. Secretary, Higher Education Department, Bl Agrawal informed the Council about the works of the Department and the RUSA.
In the meeting representatives of Pt. Ravishankar University Raipur, Bastar University Jagdalpur, Bilaspur University, Surguja University Ambikapur, Kushabhau Thakre Journalism and Communication University Raipur, Pt Sundarlal Sharma (Open) University Bilaspur, Indira Kala Sangeet University Khairagarh, Indira Gandhi Agriculture University Raipur, Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekananda Technical University, Bhilai, Ayush and Health Science University, Raipur, Kamdhenu University, Durg and Hidayatullah National law University , Raipur made a presentation on the Action Plan for the next five years.
State Higher Education Council members Dr AT Dabke, Himanshu Dwivedi, Indira Mishra, Dr AP Dixit and SM Agrawal, vice chancellors and representatives of universities and officers of Higher Education Department were present in the meeting.
