Meet focuses on slum dwellers' right to live

Culture and Tourism Minister Ashok Panda and two Bhubaneswar MlAs Priyadarshi Mishra (North) and Bijay Mohanty (Central) on Friday assured that their BJD Government would consider the longstanding demands of the slum dwellers on a priority basis, thereby ensuring their right to live.

On the occasion, the Odisha Basti Sangharsh Samiti (OBSS) urged the State Government to provide houses to all slum dwellers under the Rajiv Awas Yojana, besides ensuring water, electricity and education, providing permanent land pattas to them and setting up of a slum dwellers board.

Representatives from various States including Jharkhand, Maharashtra, West Bengal and Delhi and Samiti president Pratap Sahoo discussed the various issues of the slum dwellers.
