After a lull of over one week, the State capital witnessed a drizzle in some parts of the city on Saturday. However, instead of bringing relief to the citizens, it brought more humidity.
The brief light showers were witnessed on Saturday evening, however, were not able to decrease the temperature.
Suffering from harsh weather conditions, locals of Old City areas faced power failure after a fault was reported in the high tension power supply line at Upper lake on Friday night and the MPSEB employees took the whole day to fix the fault. The power supply could be restored only at around 11 pm.
Rain was reported in few regions across the State. Bichhua, near Chhindwara received 12 cm of rainfall, Chhindwara and Hoshangabad received 3 cm of rainfall, Saunsar and Chincholi received 2 cm of rainfall in the past 24 hours.
The highest rainfall on Saturday was reported in Satna which received 1 cm of rainfall. The temperature has gradually increased due to inactive and lull pre-monsoon activities.
On Saturday, intense heat was witnessed, cloud cover was witnessed for the whole day and dense cloud cover was witnessed at around 4 pm which later poured but the light showers at isolated places were not able to bring down the increased temperature.
City witnessed day temperature at 39.4 degree Celsius on Saturday which was six degrees above the normal temperature while the night temperature was recorded four degrees Celsius above the normal temperature at 27.7 degree Celsius.
Gwalior recorded day temperature at 40 degree Celsius, Khajuraho recorded day temperature at 42.2 degree Celsius, and Indore recorded day temperature at 37.1 degree Celsius.
Night temperatures have increased gradually.
