Condemning the Congress party’s move to field Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, hailing from a Baazigar community, from Fatehgarh Sahib reserved seat, the Chamar Mahan Sabha on Wednesday declared to fight back for the prestigious of Ramdasia's community.
“While Dharamsot is from Bazigar community, which has less than 50,000 votes, the Ravidasias (chamar) have over four lakh votes,” said Sabha president Paramjit Singh Kainth.
He added that in case, the Congress party “does not change its decision on the party candidate choice from this predominantly Ravidasia seat, the Sabha will carve out its strategy for the lok Sabha election accordingly”.
“While the Jat Sikhs, with a population of 27 per cent, have been allotted six tickets, the Chamar community, with over 20 per cent votes, have been given only two tickets and that too in Doaba region alone. Malwa region has been ignored,” said Kainth.
He said that while distributing party tickets, the Congress high command has gave preference to Adharmis by giving two tickets and ignoring the Ravidasia.“The Chamar Mahan Sabha has taken a serious view of this and decided to fight back for the prestigious of Ramdasia's community,” Kainth added.
