Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat's helicopter had to make an emergency landing in Srinagar Garhwal while transporting him back from Kedarnath temple at 4 pm on Friday. Sub-divisional magistrate Raza Abbas told The Pioneer, “the CM's chopper was forced to make an emergency landing due to inclement weather in the Devprayag region. The helicopter took off towards Dehradun after the weather cleared.”
It is pertinent to mention that Chief Minister Harish Rawat had gone to Kedarnath to review the arrangements for the Kedarnath pilgrimage. Although the pilgrimage to Kedarnath is currently underway, the local authorities halt it temporarily in case of rains or rough weather. Despite the claims of the State Government, the condition of the routes to Kedarnath is still not good enough to ensure a safe a convenient journey to visitors.
