The 16-year-old girl, who eloped with her boyfriend in March, was found two months pregnant at a city hospital. The girl was rushed to a hospital after she complained of stomachache and after the preliminary investigation she was found to be pregnant.

The parents of the girl have alleged that she has been raped by Anil D Chakrabarti, a student of Chitkara University. According to sources, Anil was slapped with abduction charges in March, when he eloped with the girl. The girl is a minor and the accused is above 18 years of age and hence, he is being alleged of rape for having intercourse with a minor. Sources in the police said that Anil ran away with the girl twice and was charged for abduction after being arrested, both the times. Currently he is out on bail.

Anjitha Chaplyal, DSP UT Police said, “The victim, resident of Chandigarh, is a student of Class XI studying in a Government school. As she is a minor, a case in the matter has been registered by the police under Section 376 of Indian Penal Code and section 6 of Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012. However, the accused in the matter is still to be arrested.” According to the first information report filed by the mother of the victim on Thursday, it has been alleged that the accused abducted her daughter in March and raped her repeatedly at his residence.

Meanwhile, the victim, in her statement recorded with the police, said that she met Anil through a common friend and got into a relationship with him. They used to meet each other and were planning to get married, she also confirmed about having physical relationship with the accused.
