BJP's nexus with liquor mafia is bigger: Surendra Kumar

Saturday, 31 May 2014 | PNS | DEHRADUN

Reacting to the BJP allegation that the Harish Rawat Government has made a big deal with the liquor merchants by making amendment in Fl-2 (wholesale) business, State Congress media unit convener Surendra Kumar has said, “It is known to everyone that the BJP has a bigger affiliation with the liquor mafia. By raking up this issue, the BJP wants to help the liquor mafia which is why they have been consistently raising this issue for the last two months. The BJP is making all efforts to malign of the image of Harish Rawat-led State Government, which is working hard to ensure overall development of the State.”

To ascertain his claim Kumar said, “It is known to everyone that Inder Singh Namdhari, who was allegedly involved in liquor baron Ponty Chaddha murder case, belongs to which party. Even a theft case was reported in State BJP head office and it also known to everyone from where the money had come. Despite all this if BJP leaders demand then we would reveal the name of BJP leaders who have been deeply associated with the liquor mafia. The way th BJP is raking up the issue shows that they want to help some liquor mafia.”

It would be pertinent to mention here that the press conference was supposed to be addressed by the CM Rawat, who could not reach Dehradun because his helicopter made emergency landing at Srinagar due to inclement weather, so Kumar addressed the media.
