CTU recruits female conductors
Chandigarh: Chandigarh Transport Undertaking has become third Government transport undertaking to recruit female conductors after Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat. The female conductors are being recruited as the administration felt that it would help in improving safety and security of the women passengers. As per the result of conductors’ recruitment exam, held by CTU in November 2013 and declared recently after the petition challenging the same was disposed by the Punjab and Haryana High Court, highest score of male candidate is 82.5 per cent, in comparison to female candidate’s 75 per cent in the written test.
Sangrur leads in wheat procurement
Chandigarh: Sangrur district, with 10,24,401 tonnes of wheat procurement, is leading in procurement operations in Punjab where procurement process is still going on. Various Government agencies and private millers have procured more than 118,81,023 tonnes of wheat till Thursday evening in the State. Punjab Government has deposited Rs 15,939.79 crore in the accounts of farmers with Rs 1,401.90 crore alone being paid in Sangrur. Sangrur is followed by ludhiana with 9,06,038 tonnes wheat where Rs 1,168.01 crore have been given to farmers.
GMSH-16 installs 3 treatment units
Chandigarh: Sector 16’s Government Multi-Speciality Hospital (GMSH-16) has installed three new state-of-the-art treatment units in the Department of Ear, Nose, Throat (ENT) in the new OPD block.
The new units would ensure speedy treatment for minor operations or procedures, that is treatment of epistaxis, foreign body removal from ear, nose and throat, ear syringing. It would also shorten the treatment time and facilitate better patient care in OPD only.
Haryana fda raids hospitals for mtp
Sonepat: A team of Haryana Food and Drug Administration on Friday raided various private hospitals in Sonepat district and recovered machines, equipment and medicines being used illegally for carrying out medical termination of pregnancy (MTP). Spokesperson said that team raided Bhagat Mulchand Hospital, and has sealed the hospital after recovery. The team also raided Aastha Clinic at Bahalgarh road where Dr Sarita Sharma is engaged in MTP activities.
Students told to link UID with sb account Chandigarh:
Punjab Government, in a bid to further streamline the disbursement of scholarships to the students belonging to Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes and Minority Communities, has issued an advisory for all the beneficiaries to link their Unique Identification (UID) number with their saving bank accounts.
Spokesperson said that the State Government has been directly crediting the scholarship amount to the accounts of beneficiaries through ‘Online Banking Management System’.
Haryana sends proposal to NCRPB
Chandigarh: Haryana Government has sent a proposal to the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) for upgradation and renovation of three roads at the cost of Rs 119 core in Ateli Assembly constituency. Chief Parliamentary Secretary Anita Yadav said that out of this amount, Rs 65 crore would be spent on upgradation of road from Kanina to Ateli,
Rs 30 crore on Ateli-Kheri stretch, and Rs 9 crore on road from Kakrala to Mandola. “Once approved, this would be the first grant for the area after inclusion of Mahendergarh district in the NCR,” she added.
NCC cadets take oath to never smoke Chandigarh:
To mark World No Tobacco Day, Max Super Speciality Hospital (MSSH), Mohali held an awareness program at Sector 11 Post-Graduate Government College (PGGC-11) on Friday. The programme was attended by 100 NCC cadets who belonged to Army, Air Force, Navy and girl wings of the Armed Forces who took oath to never smoke in their life.
