Following arrest of two youths, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) has now claimed of solving more than half-a-dozen theft cases that occurred in different parts of city.
Gold-silver ornaments along with a motorbike with an estimated market value of Rs 15 lakh were also seized from their possession, police said on Friday. According to the police, the accused were identified as Prateek Pandey and Raja Das who were allegedly involved in several cases of house breaking recently in different localities of the city.About 35 ‘tola’ gold ornaments, 1 kg silver ornaments, motorcycle, cash and other stolen valuables around Rs 15 lakh, were recovered from them, police claimed.
During interrogation, the duo confessed of committing thefts in various localities including Khamtarai, Gudhiyari, Devendra Nagar, Telibandha, Civil lines besides others added CCB sources. The accused were earlier also involved in similar kind of offences. They told the CCB sleuths that they used to commit theft for seeking a luxurious life by adopting a short cut.
