Featuring the tuneful and melodious ragas of Hindustani Classical Music, a two days event ‘Aavartan’ began here from Friday at Ravindra Bhawan Auditorium.
Being organised by Directorate of Culture, Madhya Pradesh the two day event is being held under the Ekagra series of classical events. Further, the event is all about classical music and dance.
The Bhopalites would witness a rare combination of instrumental ragas along with the refined foot-works of classical dance exponents.
On the first day of the concert worldwide popular Maihair recital troupe presented their performance before the audience.
Notably, the recital by Maihair recital troupe is conceptualized by sarod maestro Ustad Allaudin Khan who hails from Maihar Gharana. It is one of the prominent gharanas of the 20th century.
The troupe began with the melodious Raga Tilak Kamod. It is a night raga which is usually sung after the second quarter of the night.
The audiences were memerised with the performance. thier performance was followed with the Rajasthani classical folk music Ghoomar that audience listened with rapt attention.
The troupe included members like Suresh Chaturvedi on Israj, Preeti Pandey and Vijay Sharma on Violin, Rama Suman Chaturvedi and Ramyan Prasad on Sitar, Ashok Kumar Barolia and Rabindra Bhagwat on Tabla and Prabhu Dayal Diwedi on Naltarang.
On the same evening, the flute recital of two sisters Debopriya and Suchismita left the audience enthralled.
They are the disciple of flute maestro Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasiya. Popularly known as Flute Sisters, Debopriya and Suchismita hail from Mumbai and have mastered the skill of playing the wooden flute from Guru Hariprasad Chourasia.
Interestingly, they are the only performing women flutists and always mesmerize the crowd whenever they give a performance and have recorded various albums as well.
It was a spellbinding experience for the classical music lovers of the city.
On the concluding day i.e. on Saturday of the event renowned kathak dancer Ragini Makhkhar along with her troupe will give a performance in first half of programme and later the programme would be followed with the performance of Bharatnatyam dance by noted exponent Geeta Chandran. She will also perform along with her troupe at Ravindra Bhawan Auditorium.
