Narendra Modi on Friday moved to the Prime Minister’s official residence on Race Course Road in lutyen’s Delhi. Most of his belongings have been shifted to 5, RCR — a bungalow which he will occupy as residence instead of bungalow number 7 — which has been the residence of his predecessors. He performed a puja at his official residence, a senior CPWD official said.
The sprawling PM’s residence spread over 12 acres is made up of five bungalows-No 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9.Known for his simple lifestyle and austerity, Modi , unlike his many predecessors, did not seek any major changes in the bungalow. Bungalow no 1 has a helipad. Bungalow no 3 was being used by former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and his family’s residence.
Bungalow no 5, which has been chosen by Modi, was originally occupied by former prime ministers Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Rajiv Gandhi. The Special Protection Group (SPG) — responsible for PM’s security — occupies bungalow No 9.
