New Delhi: A decision on the issue of granting the leader of Opposition status to the Congress is expected to be taken before June 4 when the first session of the new lok Sabha will commence. Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Prakash Javadekar said the Government is studying provisions.

New Delhi: Amid a row triggered by his ministerial colleague Jitendra Singh over Article 370, Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh on Friday said a controversy is “unnecessary” at a time when the new Government is yet to take over completely. “Nothing can vitiate the fact that Jammu & Kashmir is an integral part of India and it always will be,” said Inderjit Singh, Minister of State for Defence.
India asks its nationals to leave E Ukraine
New Delhi: India on Friday asked its nationals, particularly students, to leave Donetsk and lugansk regions in Eastern Ukraine which is witnessing frequent violent clashes. In an advisory, it also asked citizens in the other parts of Eastern and Southern Ukraine to be vigilant.
nursery admissions: Sc seeks Govt reply
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday sought a response from the Delhi Government on the plea of four parents that their children be also granted admission in nursery class under the inter-state transfer category. The SC on May 7 asked the Directorate of Education to accommodate 24 students whose parents approached it under the inter-state transfer category and clarified that this benefit would be available only to them.
SC agrees to hear Campa Cola resident’s plea
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday agreed to hear the fresh plea on Tuesday of residents of illegal flats in Campa Cola housing society who have been asked to vacate their premises by May 31. A vacation Bench of justices JS Khehar and C Nagappan, which did not stay the eminent eviction of occupants and subsequent demolition of flats by the civic body, however, said that it would like to hear plea of Campa Cola Residents Association on June 3.
prisoner must get details on parole: CIC
New Delhi: The CIC on Friday said a prisoner must get clarification about his right to parole according to laws and guidelines even though giving such explanations by a public authority does not come under Right to Information Act. The case relates to information sought by murder convict Nitin Verma who sought clarification of “multiple murder” for granting parole and furlough.
