Summer in India has always been regarded as the harbinger of the elaborate and much-loved ritual of mango-eating, with glowing and nostalgic references to the juicy and tasty delight being quite common in Indian literature and poetry
To provide a memorable treat to the connoisseurs of Delhi during the summer season, the Government of West Bengal has organised a special Mango Festival at Dilli Haat, INA from June 11-30. The festival was inaugurated by Bhaskar Khulbe, Principal Resident Commissioner, West Bengal, in the presence of Sanjeev Chopra, Joint Secretary (Agriculture) & Mission Director, National Horticulture Mission and Nitish Sengupta, former MP and Chairman of the Board for Reconstruction for Central Public Sector Enterprises.
The exhibition, which was on display at Dilli Haat Conference Hall till June 16 and is continuing at the air-conditioned lounge till June 30, is bringing together sweet-sounding varieties from the state’s Malda and Murshidabad districts such as langra, Safdarpasand, Anaras, Ranipasand and others.
