VBU accepts new research rules and regulations

Friday, 31 May 2013 | RR Srivastava | Hazaribagh

The academic council of Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribagh, accepted and approved the new rules and regulations of research framed as per the norms of UGC.

These rules have been prepared by a team of senior professors of the university with  the coordination of ex-higher education director of the State Dr. KK Srivastava.

The registration work for research was closed here for about two years. In 2011 the UGC issued guidelines for the universities for awarding PhD degrees. Since then in VBU attempts were going on to frame new rules and regulations as per UGC guidelines because the UGC had cleared it that the degrees given by those who will not follow these guidelines will not be entertained anywhere.

Dr. KK Srivastava said that the highlight of UGC guideline is that now everyone who wants a PhD degree should have to attend classes in their subject’s PG department. This will be a six month course of research methodology and after completion of this course the candidates should have to pass a written exam after which they will become eligible to get registered for research work.

Now any supervisor can keep eight scholars under their guidance as per new rules and regulations. There will be no bar of senior/junior and post.

The meeting of academic council was chaired by VC Dr. RN Bhagat. In this meeting syllabus for M.Phil of chemistry and rectified syllabus of PG chemistry, CND, Bio-Tech and UG CND where also approved. The academic council also approved the proposal of increasing seats of PG Bio-Tech from 20 to 25.

The academic council approved the syllabus of PG Bangla and gave its approval for opening the department at PK Roy Memorial College, Dhanbad, PG center from the coming session i.e. 2013-14.

Dr. KK Srivastava gave a proposal where atleast six research scholars of each PG departments should be given scholarship by the university either by its internal resource or by getting aid from the Government. The council accepted it and made a four man committee chaired by financial advisor to look into the possibility of making payment. The academic council also approved a proposal according to which now the PG departments and constituent colleges of the university will have to make a five year plan of development  to get financial aid in coming five year plan period.
