'Imbalanced lifestyle increases neurology related diseases'

Neuro physicians and neuro surgeons from across the nation threw light on various topics in neurology at the one day international seminar on the subject organised by Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical and Health Sciences. Specialists spoke of reasons, ill-effects and the modern treatment available for various neurological factors.

Dr Sudesh Prabhakar, Prof and Head, Neurology department, PGMRI, Chandigarh, spoke on toxic neuropathies stating that in today’s scenario, imbalanced lifestyle and unrestricted eating habits have increased neurology related diseases. Stating that it was commonly thought that liquor consumption invites diseases, he said that factually polluted water is the most common factor for diseases.

Speaking as the guest of honour, Dr Vinod Puri, Prof and Head, Department of Neurology, GB Pant Hospital, New Delhi, gave a lecture on approach to a patient with neuropathy. He spoke of common neurological disorders stating that neurological diseases are caused by problems in nerves, disorders related to brain nerve and spinal cord.

The lectures were followed by a question-answer session which saw the experts clarifying various doubts. Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital’s Medical Superintendent Brig. (Retd.) Dr. Ved Prakash and others were also present on the occasion.
