Garbage everywhere at Birsa Munda Bus Stand

With the onset of monsoon the passengers have to deal with a filthy bus terminal. Garbage, dirt, water logging on roads and stench from urinals welcome the passengers as they enter the Birsa Munda Bus Stand popularly known as Khadgara bus stand in Kantatoli locality.

Due to rain the garbage heaps on both sides of the road have become moist and this has made the roads slippery. If any one enters the bus stand, then one ought to remain alert as little ignorance may lead to bigger injurious.

Buses are parked amidst the garbage and the approaching roads for them are in poor shape as a result, it has become difficult for the passengers to navigate properly. Even the passenger amenities are not in proper shape. There are two covered shelters but it is so dirty that it is impossible to sit there as it amid the unpleasant smell and squalor.

Moreover, out of two restrooms one is located at a remote area that it is difficult to locate while for other the passengers have to pay for it so they avoid using it. The hygiene level is not maintained there.

Counter clerk at the bus stand said, “People should have a sense of responsibility for keeping the bus stand clean and hygienic. They eat and throw whereever they feel like. Passengers should contribute in ensuring cleanliness here”.

Rajesh Barike, a commuter said, “The bus stand is very unhygienic and the concerned authority should give attention on its cleanliness. As you can see that while walking my legs are stuck in this sludge”.

Nishant sharma, other commuter said, “I never use public urinals as they are not hygienic or even clean”.

Naresh Sinha, Public Relation Officer Ranchi Municipal Corporation said, “As per the agreement it is the duty of the contractors to look after the cleanliness and maintain hygiene of the bus stand. But the filthiness problem of bus stand is in our knowledge and within two three days we will clean it”.
