A team of the 14th Finance Commission visited the Budhanath Temple at Garedipanchan village on Tuesday. The team consisting of three members, Manish Dev, Sunita Saxena and Prayag Jha, examined the restoration and conservation work done on the temple premises.
They went through the work undertaken by the funds provided by the 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th Finance Commissions. Visiting the temple, the members expressed their happiness over the utilisation of the funds in restoration and conservation of the 12th century temple. On the occasion, member Dev underscored the need for continuous flow of fund for the development work of the temple. The Odisha State Archaeology department has declared the temple as a protected monument. Attempts have been made in recent years for the conservation of the broken temple and its Jagamohana and compound wall, apart from saving the loose colt icons lying on the premises.
