Panchayati Raj Minister Kalpataru Das on Manday said steps were being taken to make agriculture a profitable exercise with greater emphasis on horticulture activities in Jajpur district.
Das was addressing farmers on the occasion of the Akshaya Tritiya organised by the Anchalika Krushak Seba Samiti at Barabati in Rasulpur block here.
The agriculture policy of the State Government would create opportunities for production of flowers, fruits and vegetables, he said. Das further stated that farmers, especially small and marginal, would take advantage of the horticulture and enhance their income. The administration was trying to reach out to small farmers through implementation of various welfare schemes and moreover, nutritional level of the people would be protected through priority on agriculture, he said.
