The Delhi Police on Sunday cracked the sensational murder of the wife of a BSP MlA as it claimed that the two sons of MlA’s first wife and two others conspired in the homicide.

Police have also arrested a the driver of the accused’s friend and he had a friendly entry into the house of Rehana, who was killed on October 9 at her residence in North East Delhi’s New Jafrabad area.

The MlA’s two sons who killed their stepmother are still absconding. Police said the brothers were upset after their father bought a property in Rehana’s name and that there was nothing in their mother’s name. Meanwhile, several raids are being conducted in many places in Bulandshahr, Meerut, Delhi, to arrest the absconding persons. Police have not yet given a clean chit to the MlA and his first wife.

Additional Commissioner of Police (North East), VV Chaudhary said the accused Mohammed Nadeem was arrested on Sunday morning from Seema Puri. “The names of the legislator’s sons Danish (27) and Anas (23), who are absconding, was coughed up following the interrogation of the accused Nadeem,” he added.

Nadeem worked as car driver for Arif, who is Danish’s friend and business partner. After the interrogation, Nadeem informed that BSP MlA Haji Aleem shared a rather unhappy relationship with his first wife Kamarjahan alias Kehkasha and their two sons who lived in Bulandshahr. “Danish and Anas had raised objections over the property owned by Rehana in Delhi and around a month ago, the murder was planned over a property dispute,” the officer added.

Police said that on October 7, Arif asked Nadeem to go to Bulandshahr. On October 8, he reached Danish’s house in Bulandshahr. later that morning, they went to Hapur to meet Tarikat, one of Danish’s friends and returned hours later. At 4 pm, driver Nadeem, Danish and Anas left in their SUV to Delhi and reached New Jafrabad around 6.30 pm. “On the way, the absconding accused asked him to join them in the plan to kill Rehana Begum. They offered him Rs 5 lakh,” police officer said.

After the incident, investigators were scanning the Call Detail Records (CDR) of all the relatives. Meanwhile, investigators came to know that the legislator’s sons were not present during Rehana’s interment.

Delhi Police asked the MlA, his brother and sons to join the investigation but both escaped from their home raising police suspicion. “After scanning their CDR, investigators came to know that they along with Nadeem were present in New Jafrabad area on the day of the incident. later, Nadeem was arrested. He confessed to his complicity in the crime with the MlA’s sons from Bulandshahr,” the officer added.

Police said that around 7 pm, Anas reached his stepmother’s residence, and while she was in the kitchen he let his cronies in. “As per the plan, Danish fired at Rehana while Nadeem stabbed her repeatedly around 12 times, while the third accused, Anas was just instigating his elder brother to eliminate her,” the officer added. During investigation, police also learnt that the victim Rehana, who married MlA Haji in 1990, was the third wife of the MlA.
