The repair work of the Geeta Colony flyover was completed on Monday. The facility was inaugurated nearly four years ago. The Public Works Department (PWD) has completed the extensive repair work by Monday evening to set right the fissure on the flyover link connecting Raja Ram Kohli Marg to Shanti Van, an official statement said on Monday.
Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit had directed the PWD to undertake necessary repair work after reports of fissures on the flyover. Dikshit has expressed concern over the crack on the bridge. According to a Press release, Dikshit has also asked the PWD to keep a close eye on the bridge and continue inspection on regular basis.
This is the third time that cracks have appeared at three places on the RR Kohli Marg flyover that connects Geeta Colony with Shastri Park in East Delhi. The flyover was opened for public use in December 2009. A chain of flyovers and underpasses were built in East Delhi area before the Games to facilitate traffic flow between Akshardham and Gandhi Nagar.
A report by the chief technical examiner’s organisation (CTEO) under the Central Vigilance Commission had earlier found irregularities in this project.
