Delhi Public School, Bokaro organized a two-day Capacity Building Programme on Competency-Based Assessment – Secondary Level on April 12 and 13, 2025. The workshop was facilitated by Abhishek Kumar, Principal of GGPS Chas, and Sarita Jha, Senior Teacher at A.R.S Public School, Bokaro.

The event commenced with a warm welcome, a soulful prayer, and the ceremonial lamp lighting, followed by an insightful address by Dr. A. S. Gangwar, Principal of DPS Bokaro. The resource persons highlighted the urgent need to address students' physical, mental, and emotional well-being amidst rising academic and social pressures.

Focusing on the core agenda, the experts emphasized that competency-based learning must integrate knowledge, skills, and values to ensure holistic development. They underlined the importance of designing balanced and effective assessment tools that reflect learning outcomes.

Participants engaged in dynamic discussions and hands-on activities related to question formation, including Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) – Simple, Complex, Case-based, and Assertion-Reason types – as well as Free and Constructed Response Questions (FRQs and CRQs). These sessions aimed to sharpen the educators' ability to create meaningful and learner-friendly assessments.

Dr. A. S. Gangwar stressed that according to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, true education is achieved when assessments are outcome-driven and holistic. He encouraged educators to adopt Diagnostic, Formative, Peer, Self, and Skill-based assessments to elevate the learning process and align with competency-based frameworks.

The workshop concluded on a high note, equipping educators with valuable tools to enhance classroom assessment strategies for effective learning outcomes.
