Ahead of the upcoming budget session, Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena has ordered the posting of senior officers as secretaries to the six ministers in Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s cabinet.
These secretaries will aid the minister’s to expedite development works of their respective departments in a time bound manner.
Special Secretary (land and building) Rajeeva Shukla has been posted as the secretary to PWD Minister Pravesh Sahib Singh while DDA director Anoop Thakur has been appointed as the secretary to Education Minister Ashish Sood.
Joint Commissioner (trade and taxes) Vadodaria Karanjit will serve as the secretary to social welfare minister Ravinder Singh Indraj and ADM (Northeast) Vaibhav Rikhari has been named as secretary to health minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh. NDMC director Mohit Mishra will now work as the secretary to Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa while ADM (west) of revenue department Vinay Kumar Jindal has been attached as the secretary to labour Minister Kapil Mishra.
A 2022 DANICS officer, Vineet Kumar, who was awaiting posting, has been appointed as the secretary to Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta.
Election officer Lalit Mittal and deputy secretary (health and family welfare) Devendra Kumar Upadhyay have been slotted as the deputy secretaries in the Chief Minister’s office.
Last month, a 2008-batch IAS officer Madhu Rani Teotia was appointed as the secretary to the Chief Minister.
Teotia had previously served as Additional Chief Executive Officer at the National Health Authority under the Union ministry of health and family welfare.
A 2011-batch Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territories cadre IAS officers Sandeep Kumar Singh and Ravi Jha were also transferred as special secretaries to the chief minister.
Jha had been serving as the excise commissioner of Delhi, while Singh, who was posted outside, joined the Delhi government after serving as the private secretary to the Union minister for culture and tourism.
It is learnt that the BJP leadership is also batting to get the six bureaucrats appointed as Advisors or Officer on Special Duty to the six city ministers.
The party has, however, not spoken yet on the matter, saying that “things will be decided later.” The BJP government in Delhi is facing a major challenge to carry out all round development in the city and provide a robust administration.
The government has to fulfill several promises it made to the electorate during the Assembly polls.
