A fake Facebook ID impersonating Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal, IAS, has come to light, prompting authorities to issue an alert to the public. The fraudulent profile, which uses the Deputy Commissioner’s name and photograph, has reportedly been sending friend requests and potentially suspicious messages to people across the district.
The fake profile, accessible at link, has raised serious concerns regarding online safety and misuse of official identity. The district administration has clarified that the ID is unauthorized and misleading, and has urged citizens not to engage with it under any circumstances.
"If anyone receives a friend request or unusual message from this profile, they should immediately report and block the account," stated an official release. The administration has also warned against responding to any financial requests made through the account.
An FIR has been lodged at Bistupur Cyber Police Station, and the Cyber Cell has been directed to investigate the matter with urgency. Strict legal action is expected against those responsible for the impersonation.
Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal has assured that culprits will be identified and dealt with sternly, as per the provisions of cybercrime law. “Misusing the identity of a public servant not only misleads citizens but also undermines public trust. Such acts will not be tolerated,” the statement emphasized.
The administration has called upon citizens to stay vigilant and refrain from sharing personal or financial information on social media platforms without verification. This incident serves as a reminder of growing cyber threats and the need for increased digital awareness among the public.
