Educators and experts join hands for parent-child communication

Monday, 14 April 2025 | PNS | Jamshedpur

A thought-provoking half-day seminar titled "Parenting the Parents" was held at Central Public School, Adityapur, aimed at bridging the communication and understanding gap between parents and children. Organized with the support of the Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Midtown, the event brought together educators, parents, and students in an engaging and interactive learning environment.

The seminar began on a patriotic note with the National Anthem, followed by a warm welcome of the distinguished speakers —  Preeti Saini, President of Rotary Club Jamshedpur Midtown, Consultant Psychologist and Motivational Speaker, and  Niraj Kumar, noted Career Counselor and Writer.

The dignitaries including  Preeti Saini, Niraj Kumar,  Gopal,  Ashish Das, and the school’s Principal inaugurated the program with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing the start of a journey towards awareness and enlightenment. Teacher Sujata extended a cordial welcome to the guests, after which the Principal addressed the gathering, acknowledging the contribution of the Rotary Club in establishing the CPS Warriors Interact Club and offering constant support in student development initiatives.

Ashish Das, in his address, introduced the audience to the impactful work of Rotary International, highlighting initiatives such as the cervical cancer vaccination drive, and urged parents to ensure vaccination for their daughters to prevent future health risks.

Delivered by  Preeti Saini, the session delved into the evolving dynamics of parenting in today’s fast-paced world. She shared valuable insights into modern parenting techniques, holistic child development, and ways to bridge the gap between parental expectations and children’s actual progress. Her emphasis on empathy, communication, and mindfulness struck a chord with the audience.

In the second session,  Niraj Kumar addressed the challenges and responsibilities parents face in guiding their children’s career paths. He emphasized the role of psychometric testing in identifying students' interests and aptitudes, and announced an upcoming career counseling program for Class 9 and 10 students at the school. The program, to be conducted in collaboration with  Preeti Saini, aims to offer personalized career guidance based on test results.

Both sessions included interactive Q&A segments, with enthusiastic participation from both parents and students. The discussions highlighted the pressing need for open communication, emotional intelligence, and informed decision-making in nurturing future generations.

The seminar witnessed a strong turnout, with nearly 300 to 400 parents and students in attendance. The presence of Rotary Club members — including  Gopal,  Ashish Das, and  Jyoti Singh — along with the school faculty and administration, added to the success and vibrancy of the event.
