In a perplexing turn of events, the decomposed body of a 20-year-old youth, identified as Debabrata Rajak, was discovered in a pond at Haldipokhar, under the Kotwali Thana area near Jamshedpur. The young man had been missing for four days, prompting concerned family members to file a missing person report with the local police.
Despite an exhaustive search by family members in various locations, Rajak's body was found on Monday evening in a pond surrounded by shrubs, close to his residence. The police were immediately alerted, and upon recovery, the body was sent to MGM Medical College Hospital (MGMMCH) for postmortem examination.
The decomposed state of the body made identification challenging, but family members positively identified him based on the clothing he was wearing and a distinctive steel 'kada' on his right wrist. Additionally, the police retrieved his mobile phone from the pocket of his pants.
While the police have refrained from making conclusive statements about the cause of death, family members insist that foul play is involved, suspecting murder. Ranjit Oraon, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotwali Thana, mentioned that they thoroughly examined the numbers on the recovered mobile phone but found no immediate leads suggesting murder.
"We are currently awaiting the postmortem report, which will play a crucial role in determining whether this is a case of murder or another cause of death," stated Oraon.
The circumstances surrounding the young man's death remain unclear, and the local authorities are urging the public to provide any information that may aid in the ongoing investigation. The police assure a thorough examination of the postmortem report to ascertain the cause of Debabrata Rajak's tragic demise.
