WCF to Host Education Convening at GGSIPU led by Smriti Irani

The Women’s Collective Forum (WCF), under the leadership of its Advisor, former Union Minister Smriti Zubin Irani, will host a high-level education convening at Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) on Wednesday, 2026, anchored in the India launch of Reforming Lessons by Rt. Hon. Sir Nick Gibb, former UK Schools Minister, and Educating the Educator by Dr. Vikram Sahay, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Mumbai.
According to a Press release, GGSIPU, a leading state university in the national capital with a strong focus on professional education, law, and public policy, provides a credible academic platform for engaging with questions of system reform and institutional delivery.
The convening is anchored in two books that approach education reform from complementary perspectives—drawing on UK experience as well as Indian institutional realities.
Reforming Lessons, authored by Sir Nick Gibb, presents an evidence-led account of how England’s schools improved through sustained reform. It highlights the role of phonics-based instruction, knowledge-rich curricula, and strong accountability frameworks in translating policy intent into measurable classroom outcomes.
Rt. Hon. Sir Nick Gibb brings over a decade of ministerial leadership in education reform, having served as Schools Minister under four Prime Ministers and leading major changes in curriculum design, teacher training, and assessment frameworks. Educating the Educator by Dr. Vikram Sahay examines the structural challenges within India’s teacher education ecosystem and makes the case for practice-based training and outcome-driven reform. Dr. Vikram Sahay, a senior civil servant with over three decades of experience across key Government of India ministries, has worked extensively on education policy, regulation, and institutional capacity, bringing both strategic and field-level insight into implementation challenges.
The convening will also feature a structured discussion with Mrs. Smriti Zubin Irani, Sir Nick Gibb, Dr. Vikram Sahay, and Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Verma, Vice Chancellor, GGSIPU, Padma Shri and Dr. B.C. Roy Awardee, whose leadership in higher education and institutional development adds a critical academic perspective, added the Press release.
