Tamil Nadu Polls 2026: Vijay’s TVK Leads in 100+ Seats, Makes Statewide Gains

: Actor-turned-politician Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has emerged as a dominant force in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections 2026, leading in over 100 constituencies as per early trends released by the Election Commission of India.
The TVK has delivered a strong performance across regions, particularly in northern districts such as Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram and Thiruvallur, making significant inroads into traditional strongholds of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.
In central Tamil Nadu, the party is leading in key districts including Tiruchirappalli, Thanjavur, Karur, Perambalur and Pudukkottai, while also performing strongly in delta regions such as Nagapattinam and Mayiladuthurai.
The TVK has also made notable gains in southern districts like Madurai, Dindigul, Theni, Virudhunagar and Tirunelveli, even denting the DMK’s traditional bastion in Madurai city across multiple segments.
Additionally, the party has registered leads in parts of Salem and Kanyakumari, the latter historically considered a Congress stronghold, indicating a broader shift in voter sentiment.
With counting still underway for all 234 constituencies, final results are expected later in the day. If trends hold, TVK’s strong debut could significantly reshape Tamil Nadu’s long-standing Dravidian political landscape.
