Tamil Nadu Election Results 2026: BJP Leaders Trail Behind DMK and Vijay’s TVK Candidates

Several prominent BJP leaders are trailing in the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026, as early counting trends show strong performances by the DMK and Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).
Tamil Nadu BJP chief Nainar Nagenthran, contesting from Sattur after shifting from Tirunelveli, is trailing behind DMK candidate Kadarkarairaj A by over 900 votes.
Union Minister L. Murugan is also behind in the Avanashi (reserved) constituency, trailing TVK’s Kamali S by more than 2,000 votes, according to Election Commission trends.
Former Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan is facing a significant deficit in Mylapore, where she is trailing TVK candidate Venkataramanan P by over 9,000 votes.
BJP Mahila Morcha president Vanathi Srinivasan, who shifted from Coimbatore South to Coimbatore North, is also trailing TVK’s V. Sampath Kumar by a narrow margin.
The BJP is contesting 27 seats in alliance with the AIADMK in the state, but early trends suggest the party is struggling against strong competition from both the DMK and the emerging TVK.
However, BJP candidates M.R. Gandhi, Bhojarajan M, and C. Nagesh Kumar are leading in Nagercoil, Udhagamandalam, and Thalli constituencies respectively.
In Vilavancode, BJP candidate Vijayadharani S is trailing Congress candidate Praveen T.T. by a significant margin.
As counting continues, the performance of BJP leaders in Tamil Nadu remains under pressure, with the contest largely dominated by the DMK and TVK across key constituencies.
