Srijan redefines education in Assam
Srijan — Beyond Classrooms, a three-day experiential learning initiative by Srijanasom Trust, concluded successfully at Sarokri, Dispur, Guwahati, bringing together over 100 students from various schools across Guwahati. The programme reimagined education by combining Assam’s rich cultural heritage with future-ready learning experiences.
With the belief that learning extends beyond textbooks, the programme encouraged students to stay connected to their roots while preparing for the future. A major highlight of the initiative was its focus on preserving Assam’s traditional heritage through hands-on experiences in Majuli Mask Making and Mati Akhora, allowing students to engage directly with artists and practitioners and appreciate the state’s cultural legacy.
The programme also featured workshops on AI and Future-Ready Skills, Mental Health and Emotional Well-being, Basic Life Support (BLS), and Calisthenics and Movement, offering students practical life skills through interactive and experiential learning.
The grand closing ceremony was graced by distinguished guests including Hima Das, India’s celebrated sprinter and Arjuna Awardee; Dr Purnima Devi Barman, Padma Shri awardee and internationally acclaimed conservationist; Padmapani Bora, IRS, Managing Director of Assam Tourism Development Corporation; and internationally renowned visual artist Santanu Hazarika. Their presence inspired participants to dream big while remaining connected to their values and culture.
The event concluded with a Majuli Mask Display, a Califit Calisthenics Demonstration, certificate distribution, and a high tea. Srijan showcased a new model of education—one that nurtures individuals who are rooted in their heritage while being equipped with skills and mindset needed for future.
