Speeding truck mows down herd of cow on Faridabad road

A speeding truck allegedly ran over around 10 cows sitting by a road in Sector-18 here early Thursday, killing six and inflicting severe injuries to the others, police said. Following the incident, infuriated locals allegedly set the truck on fire and mobbed the driver. Police and fire brigade teams arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control.
The mob later handed over the truck driver to police.
An FIR has been registered at Old Police Station, and the accused driver — identified as Shahid (50), a resident of Nuh district — has been arrested, police said.
According to eyewitnesses, the cows were sitting along the Old Road in Sector 18 when the speeding truck ran over them. Chaos and cries of distress erupted at the scene. Several cows were writhing in pain on the road, while six died on the spot.
Upon learning of the incident, a large number of locals and cow vigilantes rushed to the site. Incensed, the crowd set the truck on fire, which was soon engulfed in flames. The mob also caught the accused driver.
After getting information, a police team arrived at the scene and attempted to pacify the crowd. Subsequently, a fire tender reached the spot, and the fire was brought under control, police said.
